4 Basic Areas To Highlight

Hi beauties

Today we’d be learning how to highlight the face’s 4 basic areas to  get that super glowy and fresh feel to achieve the face which turns heads And the highlighting is more appropriate for any special occasions such as wedding etc. and even if you learn it properly then you can highlight it on daily basis. So let’s quickly know how to highlight these areas to accentuate your beauty that draws attention ;)

Need ? Highlighting goes hand in hand with contouring, but first lets understand what are they. Contouring means to add depth and structure to any part of your face (e.g just below your cheek bone to give a crisp frame) using a shade or two darker than your face. Whereas, highlighting is then used to accentuate and bring up those parts of areas (e.g above your cheek bones to give volume) to give a enhanced look. Basically both help in achieving a better face frame for good makeup reception. And if mastered the art, you can turn heads ;)

Following are the 4 areas according to the order:-
  • ·       Eyebrow Bone
  • ·       Nose bridge
  • ·       Cheeks bone
  • ·       Cupid’s bow

Eyebrow bone :-

Basically females have higher eyebrows, but with time/lifestyle we are not able to get enough emphasize to the best feature we have.
How to highlight ? For daily routine, you need

  • A matte concealer pencil (preferably a shade or two lighter than your skin tone.
  • A matte e/s, again a shade light than your original skin tone.

Draw a crisp line just below the eyebrows, along hairline. Blend, the line using the tip of your index finger. Then using an angled fluffy brush, pat some matte e/s all over your Brow bone.

For special occasions:-

  • You need a concealer with long staying power, and either highlighting powder or shimmery e/s.
  • Again repeat the above procedure, make sure you chose the right concealer so that it doesn’t look overboard, also before settling the concealer in make sure it has been neatly blended.

 Nose Bridge:-
  • Nose bridge or nasal bridge, can be emphasized using again a concealer lighter than your skin, placing them vertically over the bridge and blending them. Finally set them with a face powder.
  • In case you want to highlight them for wedding purpose, then obviously a bit of contouring along the both sides of nose bridge would be done, and then highlighting the bridge will add a proper structure and this will give illusion of very sharp nose. Although you can’t alter much beyond what exactly your features are because even if you try they would look weird.

Cheek bones:-

  •  Having high cheek bones is always a dream of all beauties, because cheek bones which are closer to the eyes give that sleek and sexy look.
  • Highlighting the cheek bones can be done using various products, but we basically contour, use blush and highlight our cheek bones.
  • First of all we need to know the site of our facial bones, using an Angled Contour Brush start contouring from the hairline and pulling inwards below your cheek bones. Make sure while contouring, most of the product should be near your hairline and that too properly blended. Therefore, deposit and start contouring from the hair line and bringing and blending it inwards.
  •  Now after contouring, we need to use blush. Using a blush brush, place your li’l blush on the cheek bones and blending it with the contouring done, but not all the way mixing the both.
  • Highlighting the cheek bones can be done using products like face shimmer, or something like MAC MSF , which are designed to provide skin with the required glow.
  • Just dab some on your brush, and start blending right above where blush was applied and making a “C” along your eyebrows. Don’t take too much product or else you’ll end up looking like a disco ball.

Cupid’s bow:-
  • Cupid’s bow is the place right above your lips and below your nose.
  • ·       Highlighting the cupid’s bow can be very much tempting as it gives overall sexy appeal to the lips and drawing attention without going unusual. Using a concealer pencil, Just draw an “x” over the “V” of your lips, and with a very light hand blend it with the tip of your finger, just patting over it too melt the concealer and removing the edges. Set it with a a powder After your done with highlighting the cupid’s bow, you can do your lips

Hope all these tips and tricks are worth a try!
Note: All these tips are what I learned and experienced with me or observed on others. Although these are the basic principles.

    Enjoy Weekend ! Godbless
